Abstract
This performance will include selections of piano music by Mexican composer Miguel Bernal-Jiménez. He is regarded as one of the most important Mexican composers, mainly known for his operas and choral-orchestral works; his music for piano is almost unknown. I have recorded a CD with Bernal-Jiménez' three most important piano works: the suites "Carteles", "8 Autógrafos Juveniles", and "Antigua Valladolid". Most of these works have never been recorded, and preparing this music involved significant research. For example, “8 Autógrafos Juveniles” was not included in this composers catalog and Antigua Valladolid required significant editing. I will give a short presentation about this composer's piano music and also speak about the process of discovering, editing, and preparing this music for recording.
