Abstract
Derivatives of 1,10-phenanthroline have great potential as functional sensor molecules for detection of nerve agents by colorimetric assays. In this study we prepared aminoalcohol deriviatives of 1,10-phenanthroline. Deriviatives were obtained in moderate to high yields. Metal complexes of 1,10-phenanthroline were also prepared. The metal complexes allow for greater stability of the sensors and greater possibilities for embedding in inert materials. Some aminoalcohol derivatives acted as turn-on sensors, fluorescing in the presence of DCP.
