Abstract
What has become my thesis project started out as an assignment for my math methods course at WMU. In that class, we researched new ways of teaching mathematics that increased students' understanding and made them more active participants in their own learning. As one of our final projects, we had to look at traditional math lessons from a textbook and think about how we could adapt and change those in order to make them better. As I started getting more and more into my project, which focused on data analysis for grades 3-5,1 started thinking about how I could build upon these ideas and expand this project to become my honors thesis.
