Abstract
Through the web teachers can take their students to places which would be extremely costly to travel to in the real world. They can meet and dialogue with people from around the world and truly find alternative views and voices. They can structure materials for their students that are engaging and interactive. They can keep in contact with parents and show them how their children are learning in the class. They can provide a forum for students to voice their opinions and ideas in writing and discuss these ideas with their other classmates, as well as their teacher, with threaded discussions. The skills that the teacher can train his or her students in will become increasingly necessary in the job market of tomorrow. It is not merely a case of an additional elective to teach in school, but the teaching of technology is a needed literacy for our student's economic survival. The Web provides not just technologically advanced ways to teach, but actually opens up new methods of teaching to add to the toolbox of the classroom teacher if the teacher chooses to use them that way.
