Abstract
This installation / performance piece will serve representative of my undergraduate thesis experience. The proposal outlines that this show proposes to explore my own personal literacy histories through an experiential art experience. What the proposal does not outline is the experience that viewers will in turn have. In each painting a certain sensory image and memory is explored. Seven individual paintings placed into two larger panels divide my learning process into two parts, "Early Childhood" (the corn field piece), and "Adolescence" (Flint city scape). These two metacognative explorations forced me to question myself as a learner, therefore questioning my approaches as an educator.
