Abstract
This thesis begins with a look at how the author's life experiences have shaped her opinion and definition of diversity. Then, definitions posed by others are examined in addition to theories and concepts presented by John MacDonald and Taylor Cox for a successful diversity initiative based on one's definition of diversity. Next, the paper utilizes these ideas to see the value of diversity within in organization. Next, four companies that have initiated quality diversity initiatives are featured. Finally, the author discusses the role of diversity and how it pertains to a human resources career.
