Abstract
The right to counsel in the American criminal judicial system is the right by which all others are protected. While many studies of landmark cases and particular aspects of the right to counsel, have been conducted, relatively few up to date studies on the general history, evolution, and current status of this essential right are available. The purpose of this paper, therefore, Is to provide information concerning the general history, evolution, and current status of the right to counsel in the American criminal judicial system.
