Abstract
Layers is a musical composition written for an orchestra. The title of the work is derived from a geological stratum, and the concept in general, was inspired by the movement of a stratum. The instrumental set is fairly traditional. The musical work makes use of whole tone scale on strings and whole tone and chromatic scale patterns on woodwind and brass instruments. Cluster based on harmonies are the primary harmonic material of the work. By transposing, superimposing, and developing the original melody between instrumental groups, dynamic movements of stratum on the earth are discovered. After the destructive, tensional and eruptive movement of a stratum throughout the work, everything like articulations, techniques, dynamic returns to a quiet state. The work scored for a Classical~sized orchestra, with the addition of piano soloist.
