Abstract
The purpose of this Master's Thesis is to obtain an energy and threshold calibration for the large area neutron detection system, known in brief as the neutron walls, at National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL). The neutron walls were utilized as part of a series of equation of state experiments at NSCL in 2009.
This study reviews basic principles behind neutron detection and highlights specific examples of neutron detectors. Additionally, it offers an overview of the other detection systems used in the series of experiments for which this calibration was performed. This work is a preliminary process in the analysis of the experimental data obtained during the spring of 2009.
