Abstract
An experimental study of flow structures in an enclosed simplified exhaust manifold system of a motorized engine will be conducted during steady state operation using whole field velocity measuring technique. Stereo Particle Image Velocimetry (SPIV) is planned to be used in multiple cross sectional planes in the test volume. These data will be used for mapping the 3D view of the flow behavior in the exhaust manifold and around the oxygen sensor. The understanding of the flow will help in reducing the exhaust gas pollutants by setting a better fuel-air ratio in the inlet manifold of the engine.
