Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore differences between nurses who participate and those who do not participate in the clinical ladder program at an acute care hospital located in southwest Michigan. Data were collected via an online survey and variables of interest were explored using descriptive statistics. When demographic variables were tested, there were no statistically significant differences found between those who participated and those who did not participate in the clinical ladder program. When professional attributes were tested, statistically significant differences were found in clinical competence, clinical performance, rewards and benefits, and job satisfaction with participants showing more of these attributes than nonparticipants.
