Abstract
This article discusses the decision made by the Russian Orthodox Church to defrock Father Sergiy due to his belief that’s the coronavirus doesn’t exist, along with his defiance of government lockdown policies, and his encouraging of his followers to defy the Russian Orthodox Church. The article details Father Sergiy’s following, in addition to the process of his defrocking. The beliefs and views of Father Sergiy towards the Russian Orthodox Church and the Russian government are discussed. The article features the Sredneuralsk women’s monastery that Father Sergiy has taken control of.
