Abstract
This article focuses on women from the Orthodox Jewish tradition and the use of mikvahs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Immersing oneself in a mikvah for ritual purification is required for Orthodox Jewish women who have menstruated and are in a state of niddah. The article focuses on the health concerns over using communal mikvahs, including decisions of Jewish groups to open or close their public mikvahs. The doctrine behind ritual purification and the use of mikvahs is detailed in the article.
