Form of language representation

Audio recording

Resource description

This resource is a digital audio recording of an individual interview that took place in Barcelona, Spain, in 2017. Topics covered focus on language and society in contemporary Catalonia. The interview follows up on a previous sociolinguistic interview with the same individual that the interviewer recorded in 1995, when the person interviewed was a member of the naturally-occurring social network of a young woman who lived in Barcelona at that time. The interviewer, a participant observer of that social network, is the principal investigator on a research project concerning the Spanish spoken in and around Barcelona by members of The Generation of 1995, the first generation of Catalans ever educated in their heritage language to grow up in a democratic Spain. As such, both this interview and the 1995 interview were conducted in Spanish. The person interviewed has given informed consent for this resource to be made available anonymously for research purposes. Accordingly, all potentially identifying information in the recording has been bleeped.
