Welcome to the DARDOSIPCAT Audio Recordings!
¡Bienvenido a las grabaciones sonoras de DARDOSIPCAT!
Benvingut a les grabacions sonores de DARDOSIPCAT!

This area of the archive houses the MP3 versions (listed below) of the audio recordings deposited as primary source data in DARDOSIPCAT. MP3 format is a widely supported audio compression format with public specifications. No special software is necessary to download, open, search, or view these resources. Archival versions of each of these recordings have been deposited in uncompressed format as well; however, the uncompressed versions are not served online due to their size.

The MP3 audio recordings may be used, in part or in whole, in published academic research, so long as they are cited appropriately. They may serve as the basis for later phonemic and/or phonetic transcription, or as examples of ways of speaking Spanish in Barcelona in academic pursuits of all kinds, including research as well as all forms of teaching and learning. Downloads of the DARDOSIPCAT Audio Recordings are, at this time, restricted to authorized DARDOSIPCAT users to protect the anonymity of participants in particular communicative events. Authorized users are reminded that restricted downloads are for research purposes only and all uses of the DARDOSIPCAT Audio Recordings are subject to the archive terms and conditions explicitly stated on the consent form required for authorized use (coming soon).

Present DARDOSIPCAT Audio Recordings available for download belong to Vann Corpus 2017, which contains 34 longitudinal interviews with individuals who, in 1995, were members of two distinct naturally-occurring social groups in Barcelona. These individuals belong to the first generation of Catalans ever educated in their heritage language to grow up in a democratic Spain. Audio recordings from Vann Corpus 1995 will become available in the next few years as well, including corresponding MP3s of initial linguistic interviews with these individuals as well as several, more spontaneous, group conversations. The recording and digitization conventions used in these corpora will be documented soon.
