Abstract
There are many definitions of the term "museum," literary definitions, dictionary definitions, and as many definitions as there are current studies of the museum as an institution. This thesis studies art museums and their goals: education and aesthetic fulfillment. Unfortunately, these goals are frequently unattained. Museums are changing and, in the process, experiencing many problems. Discussed are these problems and the various ways with which they are dealt.
