Abstract
There is a long history of women fighting for their rights. In the past there have been, and still are, policies which maintained the low status of women. By examining these policies closely, however, one can see that they worked not only to the disadvantage of women but also to the disadvantage of men. Therefore, men as well as women could be benefited by legislation correcting discriminatory practices.
