Abstract
Time is quickly running out for educators to prepare American students to live and work in the global society of the 21st century. Schools must meet this challenge by not only teaching children facts and information, but engaging them in thoughtful activities about world issues and problems. Through a review of literature and personal communications, it is concluded that a sound global education program includes teacher training, a foreign language component, and an integrated curriculum that builds skills and knowledge through meaningful inquiry into world issues and problems.
