TYPES OF SUBMISSIONS

Editors of the Journal of College Access welcome six primary, different types of submissions:

  • Scholarly/Research Articles
  • Best Practices
  • Book Reviews
  • Research Report Critiques
  • Literature Reviews
  • Perspectives

Scholarly/Research Article Submission

This type of article is your typical research study. Manuscripts of up to 5,000 words are accepted. Must include an abstract.

Word limit excludes abstract, table of contents, references, tables, and charts.

Best Practices Submission

This type of article showcases a best practice within a program or organization. This could include "how-to" pieces, innovations, practical applications related to any issue associated with college access. These submissions should not exceed 2,500 words and should include an abstract.

Book Reviews Submission

Book reviews of current college-access-related professional publications are welcomed. Submissions should not exceed 1,500 words.

Research Report Critiques Submission

Similar to a book review, this type of submission will analyze a published research report that focuses on issue(s) related to college access. Submissions should not exceed 1,500 words.

Literature Reviews Submission

This type of submission is a compilation of information that considers the critical points of current knowledge including substantive findings, as well as theoretical and methodological contributions in the field of college access. Submissions should not exceed 2,500 words. Must include an abstract.

Perspectives Submission

This submission is written in editorial format, expresses one or more viewpoints, opinions, reflections, or experiences on issues of importance to college access professionals. Submissions should not exceed 1,500 words.
